Brushes:

A selection of Raphael brushes that will suit most oil colour applications. These are superior quality brushes that are worth every cent! I have also added a few watercolour options. I use watercolour occasionally and it is very useful for plein air "sketches" when planning compositions. A selection of two Bristle and two or three Kevrin brushes will take care of most oil painting needs. It's an investment!

Paris Classic:

The Paris Classic is Raphael's leading series of oil and acrylic bristle brushes. Paris Classic long handle bristle brushes feature "straightened bristles" for smoother easier flowing brush.

Pure white, soft bristles, processed twice to give a finer, more precise brush with better control. The hair has a cohesive working nature making each stroke smooth from start to finish. Unlike conventional interlocked bristle, the straight hair has no tendency to split after the stroke.

The Paris Classic brushes have the advantage over traditional chisel edge brushes of better pressure on the canvas, and are especially good for light strokes and wash techniques. Pure copper ferrules and long black painted handles.

Which brush to choose?

I have placed a selection of popular sizes for sale. Should you not see the size that you want then please contact me to request prices. I personally prefer a larger brush and it is the most versatile approach too. Small brushes lead to fiddly details (not good).

KNOWN AS THE BEST HAIR IN THE WORLD FOR OIL PAINTING!
These French brushes are especially notable for their handcrafted quality. All Raphael mongoose hair is hand-sorted. The exceptionally soft, natural hair is a great alternative to sable, and at a fraction of the price in larger sizes. Mongoose is slightly stiffer than sable, but softer than bristle. The excellent spring, precision, and soft feel make them suitable for almost any technique in oil, acrylic, and watercolour.
