These are moments that I love. Completing a project like this one. I have been working on this book compiling the content and designing the final edition over the past six months. Not continually of course, because there are competing things all the time. You know how life can get. Then a gap opened up and I knew that I wanted this book published by the end of October. Made it ... just.
What is it all about?
Be careful what you wish for. It may come true, but not quite as you hoped for. This ancient moral is explored in the spooky story, The Monkey's Paw by W.W. Jacobs. Even if Halloween is not your thing you may enjoy this fun, but chilling tale. I certainly had fun putting a reading together for my Artist's Journey Podcast. So turn the lights down and listen to this classic story.
In recent podcast interviews I have asked my guests what they think separates successful artists from the struggling artists. We also looked at what makes artist's businesses successful. It is not a simple question to answer, but for each person there are a few characteristics that stand out. Let's take a closer look. As I write this the rain has stopped and a stunning blue sky has emerged. The Spring sunshine is bright and welcome. The dust has been washed away. You can sense the grass growing and the sounds of bird-life suggest vibrant activity. Nature is taking full advantage of this moment. Are you? Evidence suggests that most people are not. They prefer to live in the past or the future. This leads to suffering at many levels. But there is a way to solve this problem. South African artists seeking the best fine art supplies from around the world are raving about The Italian Artshop. Situated in Rondebosch, Cape Town, The Italian Artshop stocks some of the top international fine art brands. In this episode of An Artist's Journey Podcast I talk to the owner of the store, Skye Kennedy.
The South African Artist Magazine is South Africa's most popular art enthusiast magazine. In this episode of An Artist's Journey Podcast I interview the Managing Editor Linda Hodnett. Established in 2011 The South African Artist Magazine fills an important niche for artists in South Africa. It is also popular overseas and continues to grow its circulation. But it was not all smooth sailing as you fill find out in this interview.
What a week. So much tragedy from the USA. Then the sad news of Tom Petty passing away at 66 from cardiac arrest. Tom Petty was one of my all time favorite rock singer/guitarists while growing up. I know many music greats have passed on over the last few years, but it is the one whose songs you listened to regularly that make it feel kind of personal. That is what great art does I guess. Gets into your soul a little. Okay, I admit that I do not know that answer, but I have the solution. The world's shortest artist survey! And I need your help to complete it. Simply select which options apply to you or add one if you don't see your number-one-painting-challenge. That is it. Only one minute to complete. |
