  • Engagement on Pinterest is approximately 80% based on the number of pins repinned. Other channels are fortunate to exceed a measly 2% engagement.
  • About 61% of users have found new brands on Pinterest. Yours could be next.
  • Promoted pins have a 50% conversion rate for sales.
  • Users are happiers too. About 71% of Pinterest users find solutions on the platform.

How to Start Your Business on Pinterest?
With those stats in mind you may want to rush onto Pinterest right now. Good idea, but a few things to keep in mind. You want your business to make the best of this opportunity from the get go.

Have a Plan
A little planning and strategy goes a long way. If you are a small creative business or solo entrepreneur this may be easier for you. If unsure take time to research other businesses you admire. See what they are doing on Pinterest that works.

Take special note of the following:
  • Pinterest account descriptions;
  • Board arrangement;
  • Board names and descriptions;
  • Type of images used;
  • Shape and quality of pins;
  • Pin descriptions
  • Use of promoted pins
These are important optimization issues to focus on. No worries if this seems overwhelming. You can improve as you go. The important thing is to start with a few good tips in hand.

What are Your Business Goals?
Strategy does not have to be boring. Have fun with Pinterest, but think about what it is that you want people to know. What is your business about? If you had to tell a story in pictures to describe your number one thing, what would those pictures be?

Arrange Your Boards
Now arrange those pictures into categories. If you are an artist painting different subjects start there. Categories for landscapes, seascapes and portraits for example. Also include your blog and other main topics that tell us about your work.

Those categories become Boards. Each board has a description that will contain a few keywords. You know the importance of headlines and keywords for SEO. Apply those to your board names and descriptions. Not spammy. Be authentic and real.

Tip: Start with secret boards and build up about ten pins on the board. Then make the board public for a bigger impact.

Pins that Rock
Visual content is vitally important today. A compelling image is critical. But make the most of it by ensuring your pins are designed for Pinterst's paltform. Vertical pins work best. A short description with a keyword on the pin helps users to identify what it is about. A longer description below the pin with a hashtag or two helps with search and discovery.
