This years National Arts Festival had a last minute reprieve after the Lotto apparently fell short with funding. The provincial government came through with the necessary R12 million boost to help the show go on. In a previous article I had a little rant about the arts being taken for granted. And then this close call added to the Winter chill. Fortunately it all worked out in the end. Grahamstown received its annual economic windfall, visitors had much to see and artists had a wonderful showcase for their talents.
See the video below for a quick slideshow.
The Village Green Fair remains a popular destination for festival visitors. All manner of creative goods are sold and of course there are the food stalls. You need to keep your energy up when it is winter in Grahamstown! There is always something interesting, compelling and fun to see at the fair. And to purchase :)
Here is a quick slideshow of snapshots from the Village Green.
