Want to paint more in 2018? Feeling stuck and need to explore new painting methods? Perhaps you have never painted in oils or acrylics before and want to learn the essential basics? You will cover all of these and more on my two-day painting workshops. Here is what we will be doing: The Real Secrets of Painting
Starting to paint is easy, but without a grounding in the essentials of observation, values, composition, colour and brushwork the path to frustration is short. I had the same issues when I started out. The funny thing is that most "art course" books said the same thing, but still left me in the dark. It seemed like everything was important therefore nothing was important. Know what I mean? What do you really need to know that will make the real difference to your painting? What the Master's Did Is this not what we all want to know? What did the masters focus on to make their paintings stand out? There are excellent sources of information out there, but still very few. Art schools also do not focus on these techniques, but instead on conceptual art. All well and good, but I want to paint what I like in a contemporary impressionist style. Loose and full of colour and life. Can you teach me that? Unfortunately there is not much in this line. Perhaps you have found this too? You Can Paint with Impact When I developed this workshop the idea was never to teach artists to paint copies of my paintings. So many workshops do this and it is disappointing to the student. Instead I want each student to paint in their unique way with the knowledge of tried and tested methods and techniques. Not simply painting and hoping for the best. Rather painting with knowledge and purpose so that you can grow in confidence. See Like an Artist All of this comes down to one central idea: Can you see like an artist? If you know what to look for and understand why it is important you have overcome the biggest hurdle in painting. From that point onwards your paintings will improve dramatically. There is no reason why, with practice, your painting will not improve to new and exciting levels. Why Workshops? A painting workshop does offer an intensity of learning that is difficult to duplicate. Working with other artists and the instructor leads to rapid improvement. Plus the benefit of immediate and personal attention saves a lot of time and indecision for the student. Of course it is also fun. That is important too. We are all sharing a good time doing what we love. Starting April 2018 If you are interested in joining my first workshop in 2018 then visit my workshop page to find out more. This is a special rate too at this new venue. Sign up to reserve some of the remaining places. I look forward to meeting you there. |
